External security policy at Schiphol

The Dutch government aims to provide clean, safe and attractive surroundings to live in. National government and other government agencies are therefore required to achieve the basic quality agreed. In addition, external security policy for Schiphol has been defined in the Schiphol Airport Classification Decree (Luchthavenindelingbesluit (LIB, 2004)). This defines two zones; the demolition zone and the restriction zone. In the demolition zone, homes should no longer have a residential function. However, people who lived in the demolition zone at the time of the entering into force of the Airport Classification Decree cannot be forced to leave their homes. No new homes may be built in the restriction zone, and new businesses may only be established if they employ fewer than 22 workers per hectare.
